biography

Capt. Mohamed El Hussieny is a lecturer and member of the staff at the Nautical Basic Studies Department, College of Maritime Transport & Technology. The Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport. Abukir Campus, Alexandria, Egypt. Capt. Mohamed El Hussieny is a maritime expert and maritime lecturer. He is currently a maritime lecturer at the College of Maritime Transport & Technology, AASTMT. He lectures on maritime courses approved by the International Maritime Organization (Navigation, Maritime Law & IMO Conventions, Leadership, Watch Keeping, Marine Communications, Marine Safety, and Seamanship). He has also previously worked as a naval officer in the Egyptian Navy. Capt. Mohamed El Hussieny earned his Master Mariner (Certificate of Competency) and is currently working on a Doctorate in Maritime Transport Technology in Fleet Operation and Maritime Ports Management. He earned his M.Sc. degree in Maritime Ports Administration Operating Systems from AASTMT in 2012 and his B.Sc. degree in Naval Science from the Egyptian Naval College in 2005. Capt. Mohamed El Hussieny has participated in several academic activities, seminars, and workshops, and has also published research papers in the maritime field. He has been chosen to be a member of the IAMUS Supporting Team for the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU) Student Session (IAMU-AGA21). From 2005 to 2020, he worked as a naval officer in the Egyptian Navy for more than 15 years onboard many types of ships. In addition, he worked as a training officer who was responsible for organising the training programs for naval officers and sailors. From 2014 to 2015, he was assigned for more than a year as a United Nations Observer in the United Nations Mission (MINURSO) and also as a Liaison Officer in the UN Liaison office in Algeria, working with UN agencies (UNHCR-WFP-UNICEF-IOM), international non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). In 2016, Capt. Mohamed El Hussieny moved to the Egyptian Naval College to work as a college staff for one year. He has also worked as a lecturer from 2015 to 2020. He was also responsible for training the cadets on board naval ships during naval training. From 2017 to 2020, he was a commanding officer on board many types of naval ships.
